Essence of colour

Good Evening everyone!
So half way through the working week already now. Even though this week hasn't been a full working week. Should definitely count ourselves lucky. But it does feel like we have been back at work for a little while now already when we really haven't.
I think I'm still unsure on what day of the week it actually is. Christmas really does throw you off I think. It's like you forget what the day is, where you are & just everything in general. I've had a few days of that now. I hope I'm not the only one to feel abit confused & lost this week...

This time of year the season we are in I tend to pick darker shades when wearing make up to fit with the season. In the summer I tend to stick with light pale tones nothing to harsh & bright. But in the autumn & winter I tend to pick more dark, harsh coloured tones. Don't get me wrong even in the winter I refuse to wear bright colours. I'm not really one for looking outside the box too much when it comes to using different colours of make up. I know what kind of things I like & I tend to stick to that. I'm really not a bright colours kind of girl.  I like to stick to my neutral tones.

I have said before on previous blog posts as much as I love designer make up from Mac cosmetics, to Bobbi brown to Yves saint laurent. I love to find & experiment with good quality high street brands when it comes to make time. Sometimes I just don't want to spend loads on make up I want something of a decent quality & a cheaper price.

Recently I have come across a brand of cosmetics called Essence. Which can not only be found in the U.K. But also in many other countries. Essence do not test on animals, they keep up to date with different trends & colours. Plus I also found they were at such an affordable price. When you buy lower end priced make up I do often tend to worry...
What  if the quality isn't good?
What if it isn't long lasting?
What if the colours aren't as nice on?

But I can honestly say I was pleasantly surprised!
So I picked up 5 products from essence:

Mosaic Blush - 20: all you need is pink
I can't actually show you a swatch of this blush because I could not for the life of my photograph it well enough on my camera to show you. Looking at the colour of the blush in the compact I will admit I did worry abit as it did look pretty pinky but when swatching it I found it doesn't at all come out in a brigh pink colour. It comes out of more of a peachy colour with a very faint shimmer to it. Which I found to actually be a nice colour. I cannot stand over powering blushers because I think they just look too bright & not at all natural.

The metals eyeshadow- 02: Frozen toffee
I love my browns & Cooper kind of colours when it comes to eyeshadows lately. Not only because I have brown hair, dark hair & features but I also tend to suit the more browns & darker kinds of tones. When it comes to eyeshadows I tend to love pigmented colours lately. So when I tried this one I loved it! It is such a shimmery kind of colour I love it. The eye shadow definitely has a metallic effect to it & applies so smoothly. It's such a soft smooth texture. I think the eye shadow would be perfect used both try & wet for a more dramatic look!

The gel nail polish - 58: need your love
I don't tend to use nail polishes as much as I used to because I have shellac nails done mostly now. Which I do myself because they last longer. But when I do rest my nails & want a break from using the shellac polishes I go back to using normal nail polishes. I come across this shade because it's a nice dark autumnal colour which I love. Especially teamed up with a darker lipstick. I will admit I haven't tried the nail polish actually on yet. But when I next take my shellacs off I will definitely be giving this colour a try!

Long lasting lipstick- 27: mystic violet
The lipstick like it's name suggests is a violet shade but it is a dark violet colour. Which I think is a pretty unique colour! Most lip colours I have when they are darker they tend to be more of reddy/brown kind of colour but this shade has more of a purple shade to it. It's such a lovely colour! The lipstick also applies on smoothly too & the packaging doesn't feel dead cheap it's got a nice matte effect to it.

Smokey 2 in 1 khol liner - 01/ smokey black
When it comes to finding a decent eyeliner which the pencil is thin enough to use I always seem to struggle! Some that I come across are too thick & bulky to use. So when applying the eyeliner I feel like the lines they create are just awful. So I like to try & find eyeliners where they have a thin point so you can create thinner lines because I cannot stand chunky ones. This liner felt so odd when I opened it. The point was so soft & had more of a crayon look to it. I couldn't quite work it out. But it came out so thin! I was very impressed with it. You don't have to apply it hard either to try & make it noticeable. It was so easy to use!

I definitely have a favourite two out of these products I have to say!
It has to be the metals eyeshadow because it's so pigmented & such a lovely colour! & the long lasting lipstick simply because I love the colour so much. I am definitely going to be trying to pick up some more of the collections colours.

If you like your high steeet brands in make up definitely give them a try!

Take care!
