Salon In Your Own Home

Hello Everyone!

Half way through the short working week this week. The only time during the year you get a friday off too. You've got to love Easter just for that fact I think, never mind the chocolate!
Lovely long weekend of taking some time to myself & hopefully feeling a bit more perky. I can only hope anyway.

As you all may have worked out by now I am obsessed with beauty products! More so products to use not actual beauty tools. But as a qualified beautician I have used many different beauty machines before for skincare & loved the effects they had.

But for everyone it is not possible for them to visit a salon regularly because yes it can be expensive. So what if there was a way you could do your own treatments by yourself in the comfort of your own home? You would so do it right?

Well I have come across a company called PMD (Personal Microderm)
Who offer smart beauty tools & skin products for people of the likes of you & me to use in our own home. To help give people confidence back of their own skin. They use smart technology that makes their tools both powerful & convenient.

I am forever trying to find ways to improve my skins appearance because it did used to knock my confidence & really get to me. But since I have gotten older I have found more ways to help look after my skin & make it as good as it can be & this little gadget is working wonders on my skin!

The tool I have recently got from PMD is the PMD Personal Microderm. This removes dead skin cells to expose new skin which can dramatically improve the skins appearance. By removing the skins dead cells it helps the skins surface, tone & texture appear more improved. It also helps it look & feel more healthier & smoother. This is because the dead skin cells are no longer there to act as a barrier which means skin care products absorb into the skin better. Skin care products are 20 times more effective when combined with microdermabrasion. It also helps improve the any of the skins blemishes, tone, & reduces the appearance of fine lines & wrinkles.

In the kit you get everything you need & also comes with a DVD to help you get the best out of your device & ensure that you know all the information you need about your PMD personal microderm.

When I first went through the instructions I did think to myself even though I have used much larger machines of these before when doing my beauty therapy training this sounds so complex. But after using the tool a few days it was SO easy!

You simply:

*Prepare your skin - Throughly cleanse your skin to make sure it is
free from all make up, dirt & oils. PMD do recommend you used their advanced soothing cleanser which is formulated to work alongside the device but I use my own everyday cleanser by Nuskin. Once you have cleansed though make sure you let your skin completely dry before even beginning the treatment. This ensures that the micro-dermal exfoliator works more effective & correctly. Because if the skin is too damp the discs do not glide over the surface well.

*Connect the device to the power cord. The device does run off of electricity & is not battery operated. So connect the power cord, turn the connector one quarter turn until it locks into place.

*Choose a suitable disc - You can use the device on your face or your body so there are two different size discs depending on what area you wish to use it on. You can begin a treatment on your hand or behind the neck before you use a higher exfoliating disc. The pack contains a white disc which was developed to use as a training tool till you feel comfortable enough to properly start using it & to check that your skin reacts okay to the device.
After you have practised on the white disc, move on to the grey disc which is the most gentle. The smaller discs are for the face & delicate areas & the larger discs are for the body.

The kit contains several different discs depending on your skin type:

White Disc - For ultra sensitive skin & also training tool
Grey Disc - For very sensitive skin
Blue Disc - For Sensitive skin
Green Disc - Medium strength abrasion
Red Disc - Maximum strength abrasion (Which is available to purchase separately)
Black Disc - For use only on the body (which is also sold separately)

*Insert the disc - Push the disc down firmly into the device post. Twist the cap on making sure that the cap is secured tightly & against the black o-ring.

*Using the device - Make sure you use the white training disc before your first treatment to ensure your skin reacts okay!

Use your free hand to pull the skin tight in the area you want to start with. Then glide the PMD in an upward motion across the skin making sure you don't make more than two passes over one area during the treatment. After you have finished your treatment make sure you wash off the dead skin cells immediately. Then use a calming toner to neutralise the PH balance in your skin, then use a moisturiser. Leave it 6-7 days between treatments to let your skin recover.

*Cleaning the device -  Clean the cap with an anti-bacterial soap. Make sure you clean the filter with warm water, place the dry filter back in the device. If the disc is not dry the vacuum will not work.

To better results replace the discs every 2-4 treatments. As the
aluminium oxide crystals that exfoliate your skin can wear off. The replacement discs can be purchased from the PMD website.

The suction from the device is strong & does pull at your skin so do not be alarmed if it leaves red marks. They will not last so do not be alarmed.

I cannot believe how handy & great this device is! & how much difference it has made to the appearance of my skin. Don't get me wrong I still have my days where a spot can appear but who doesn't. But this has made my skin extra soft & clean. Not only that but it has made my pores clearer too.

The device can also be purchased for males. PMD offer a separate device for them.

I cannot believe how great they are. They maybe a little pricey but they are more cost effective than going to a salon & having the treatment done. Not only that but you get to do it in your own home, what could be better than that!

Check out PMD's website for more information, before & afters, other peoples reviews & to visit their shop:
